  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Rossana Cuebas -- Had to finish!! : I picked up this book as a casual reas and figured it would take me a week to finish. No way! I devoured it the same day. I was drawn in to the magical world within the pages and it only got better as I read. There are some very unexpected twists and lots of adventure, which kept me on the edge of my seat. • 5.0 out of 5 stars from LaDonna G -- Dubin, fae and the 1980s??? Some how they go wonderful by together! : I love this story. It's a true adventure. Fast pace with great characters. I loved Fred and Carla and their dynamic was super interesting. Add to that, a fairy realm and a compelling villain (no spoilers) and I was hooked. I'm waiting not so patiently for the next book. L. • 5.0 out of 5 stars from RACoop -- A fantastic journey in this coming of age story : If you want to be swept away into a world with supernaturals, demons, vamps, and fae with the lure of Irish flair, then this novel is the perfect addition to your day. Though I must say I read it into the wee hours of the night too. The characters come to life with masterful description, and I loved the dialogue. • 5.0 out of 5 stars from J Garth -- Kick-ass faery with great dialogue and humour : I really enjoyed this book. Great dialogue and humour, with a distinct Irish flavour. Some hard hitting action and fighting, thanks to Fred the kick-ass faery, a rampaging banshee, and a whole host of faery folk. Some entertaining 1980s references too. Fred is a very strong protagonist, and the supporting cast is formed of 3D characters with very individual voices and personalities. The author has a great talent for description. I felt like I really knew the people I was reading about, and I felt a real sense of place. And those fight scenes - ouch! I felt that! I look forward to future instalments of Fred’s adventures! • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Mrs. K. Freeman -- The next Harry Potter : I loved this book from the first to the last page and am very much looking forward to the sequels. The action is based in both mythological and real Ireland and as I read the chapters based in Dublin and Wicklow I could see in my minds eye places I know! The musical references are all on my playlists and I always wanted a Ford Capri! I found myself cheering on Fred through her various adventures and loved the storyline and characters. • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Mark W. -- Rich, delightful characters with tons of Irish charm : I loved this book. The characters are richly written and developed, with real, complex relationships. The Irish vernacular transported my to the Emerald Isle and added a great deal of depth and charm. Can't wait for the next one! ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on September 28, 2021 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from CDouglas -- Hip take on an Irish myth : This book is the first in what will be an academy series. It sets the scene linking the world of faery and the mortal realm, and the story centres on two girls discovering their unknown heritage. The writing is fresh and full of Irish spunk, and there’s quite a few mythological creatures to meet. A fun read. ( Reviewed in Australia on January 20, 2022 )
